What's in season in September?
Mmmm, September... whether autumn's on the way, or it's another Indian summer, there's a harvest festival of wonderful local produce which can be enjoyed in a traditional style, or with a new twist.

Fruit and veg: apples, artichokes, aubergines, blackberries, cabbage, calabrese, carrots, cauliflower, courgettes, cucumber, damsons, elderberries, fennel, figs, grapes, kale, leeks, lettuce, marrow, melons, mushrooms, nectarines, onions, pak choi, parsnips, peaches, pears, peppers, plums, potatoes, pumpkins, raspberries, rhubarb, spinach, swede, sweetcorn, tomatoes, turnip.

Fish and light meat: brown trout, clams, crab, Dover sole, grey mullet, grouse, haddock, halibut, herring, John Dory, lemon sole, lobster, mackerel, mussels, oysters, partridge, plaice, rabbit, salmon, sardines, sea bass, squid, wood pigeon.

For starters, how about Carrot and Coriander Soup, Mussels with Ginger and Coriander or Portuguese-Style Clams, all so easy to make and so tasty!
