Ingredients:
4 pears, peeled and sliced
250ml red wine
150ml water
20g fructose or 1½ tbsp agarve syrup (or 30g sugar if you are not avoiding it)
1 cinnamon stick / ½ tsp ground cinnamon
100g dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids if possible)
1 tbsp rice or millet amazake |
|
|
Preparation:
Place the pear slices in a saucepan, and cover with the red wine, water, fructose / agarve syrup / sugar and cinnamon.
Simmer gently for 15-20 minutes until the pear is poached but not mushy.
Remove the pear slices and cinnamon stick from the wine sauce; then add the chocolate and amazake to the sauce and heat until melted and smooth.
Pour chocolate sauce over the pear slices and serve. |

|
Notes:
Amazake is available from health food shops. Made from millet or brown rice, it is nutritious and naturally sweet, and is a great alternative to dairy or soya cream. |
